Relationship – Discords And What You Can Do

No relationship moves as perfectly as we wish. We wish that our relationship will always be a cause of envy for other couples. That there will be no disagreements. That it will always be love. We will always take care of each other. Never criticize each other. There will be no fights. We will be supporting each other and so on. This all sounds very attractive and dreamy. Who will not wish for this kind of relationship? But does that happen?

No. In most of the relationships, the atmosphere sours for some or the other reason. Most of the times, it is difficult for the partners to find out what went wrong. The more they try to correct the situation, the more it worsens. Is this sounding familiar? A common mistake all of us make at this point of time is to try and find out what went wrong? That results in more of fault finding and may worsen the situation. The first step should be cooling off. Get away from each other for some time everyday, avoid every talk that may result into anything negative and begin thinking of what was found positive in each other in the earlier days. Something attracted you to each other, isn’t it? Some quality that you loved in your partner? Go back to those days and try to praise and appreciate him/her again for that. Let the negative vibes remain as they are. Don’t disturb them with further analysis. But try to praise each other as you did in the beginning. As soon as you realize that the discord or blame game is resurfacing, try to get away. Don’t carry it any further and analyze. As said earlier, it will worsen.

Kill the negatives with positives. Slowly, this will dissolve the negatives and your relationship will be back to normal. Now, if you wish, you may try and find out what might have gone wrong. If that is of no use, don’t do it. The communication breaks totally in a discord. We stop listening, lose empathy and begin blaming. Both the parties become ruthless to each other and hurt each other more. This has to be stopped. This can be done by moving away. Stop getting focused on your partner for some time and slowly the problems will not look as bad as before. Begin sending positive signals and you are back to normal. This all may sound simplistic, but is there any problem in trying, if the relationship is going downhill anyway continuously? Try it.
