Should Infidelity Be Forgiven?
Infidelity or unfaithfulness refers to the act on cheating on one’s partner. It is the condition when one partner feels the need to go outside the relationship in order to make themselves feel better. The relationship is not enough to make them feel good and they don’t have to guts to end it, hence they resort to cheating. So should infidelity be forgiven? Is is normal in relationships? Is there any proof that they won’t do it again?
The answer is no. The phrase, ‘Once a cheater, always a cheater’ has been said by a person only after putting a lot of thought to it. Till now, nobody is able to prove this wrong. Once cheating or infidelity gets into a relationship, it brutally cuts open the relationship into two parts just like how a sharp knife would. It leaves behind a wound that takes years and years to heal. The ones who cheat come up with reasons like lack of physical intimacy, to get even with their partner, absence of love, etc. However the truth is, these are not reasons but excuses to start with. If they are so unhappy being into the relationship, the best thing to do is to end it. If they claim that they don’t feel love the way they used to feel before, they are just telling white lies to themselves. The truth staring back at them in the face and it is that they just never really loved the person in the first place. There can certainly be no valid excuse for infidelity. If you love and respect your partner, loyalty is the least that you could give them. If you can’t even afford that much, you don’t deserve anybody’s love.
The small conclusion here is if you are not ready for a relationship, don’t start it. If you are feeling the need to look out of your relationship to find love, you don’t need any other reason to end it right there. Nobody will blame you, if you are honest. But, if you cheat on your partner, it is like slitting the throat of a person and then mocking them on their face.
